The Whale Museum, located in beautiful Friday Harbor, Washington, opened to the public in 1979 as the first museum in the country devoted to a species living in the wild. Today, our museum continues to promote stewardship of whales and the Salish Sea ecosystem through education and research.

The San Juan Islands Sculpture Park was founded in 1998 and it was originally called the Westcott Bay Institute for Art & Nature. The Park has evolved to offer its visitors a quality experience of art and nature working in harmony.

American Camp is located on the southern end of San Juan Island. When Great Britain and the United States in 1859 agreed to a joint occupation of San Juan Island until the water boundary between the two nations could be settled, it was decided that American Camp and English Camp would be located on opposite ends of the island.

English Camp is located on Garrison Bay, 9 miles northwest of Friday Harbor. The Royal Marines lived at English Camp during the peaceful 12-year joint British/U.S. occupation of San Juan Island.
